Cards and Prints
Began during Covid-19 - 2020
During lockdown, I spent a lot of time drawing primarily digitally. I used these drawings to create prints and greetings cards which I gave to friends and family as well as selling a few.
The majority of the illustrations were created on Procreate on my iPad but also Illustrator. I used Adobe softwares to translate these illustrations into the correct sizes and styles for printing cards and postcards.
Greetings Cards
I spent a lot of my time on Illustrator and using Procreate on my iPad to draw and produce illustrations. I set myself the task of not buying a single card throughout lockdown and instead only making them myself. During this time I think we all began to appreciate the smaller things in life, rather than expensive gifts, you missed the people giving the gifts and a handwritten note or handmade card. Also, I found myself sending post much more than usual even though things like FaceTime and Zoom were available, it felt more personal. I also made the cards personal to each person by drawing on their interests and their favourite food or drinks. I also sent postcards of prints I had made of my friends and it was nice happy mail for them to receive. I had a lot of fun being creative like this and was able to learn new skills in both softwares.
Prints
I have also illustrated a range of prints; some of which were commissioned, others for friends/gifts and also for myself to help learn new skills. I have enjoyed in particular learning how to draw people digitally, throughout GCSE/A-Level I spent the majority of it drawing mainly in a photorealist style so I have been transferring those skills to modern digital illustration. Some of these prints were used by people to hang in frames in their homes so I would love to progress further and sell them to a wider audience.
