Am I A Feminist?
Part of Final Project - 2019
The flow diagram asks questions stereotypically associated with being a feminist but ultimately the only question that matters is the last one “do you think there should be equality between genders?” for which there is only one answer which defines being a feminist; “yes”.
An informative piece addressing the lies of what it means to be a feminist. Created with risograph. A5 postcard which was posted through letterboxes and handed out to the public to encourage thought and a more positive outlook on what it means to be a feminist.
“Feminist” can be considered as a dirty word and there are many misconceptions of what it means to be a feminist. It is not a movement about being better than males, it’s about being equal to them. This means equal pay, rights and opportunities.
Some of the lies associated with being a feminist are such as you have to be female, hate men, be gay, hate the colour pink or be against shaving your legs. None of these are what define being a feminist. So this piece helps shut down the lies by showing the viewer that none of the above matter when defining a feminist. The only definition is that a feminist is someone who wants equality between genders.
This piece was then posted around Bristol and left in public spaces to help inform people on the definition of the word ‘feminist’ and to help shut down the lies.
